C-Stores

This page will focus on convenience items typically found in 7Elevens or gas stops. 7Eleven stores are all over Thailand. I would like to touch on the positives and negatives of the merchandise.

Dried seafood products and dried seaweed.

 Spicy fish strips.  Includes a mix of fish meat, sugar, tapioca flour, salt, soy sauce, seasoning, MSG, no preservatives.

 Dried cuttlefish strips.  Contain sugar, chilli, soy sauce, salt, and an added preservative. 25 baht per package.

 The three Thai beers of Thailand include, Singha, Chang, and Leo.  They are available by can or bottle.  The main imported beer available is Heineken.  The drinking age in Thailand is 18.  Chang and Singha are among the more sought out beers as far as Thai-brewed.

On the go meals - There are a variety of meals to choose from.  These include curries, fish and noodles soups, shrimp noodle soup, etc.  To prepare, one simply adds hot water.  Like most pre-packaged foods, these too are high in sodium, carbohydrates, and fat.  In summation, they are cheap, non-nutritional dense, and available all over Thailand.

 Above you will notice several pre-packaged sandwiches or stuffed steamed buns.  These breads are mostly steamed.  The inside contents of the bread sandwiches typically contain fish, ham, or pork.  Custard breads (see picture below) are also available, steamed bread with a brighly colored custard smear across the thick white steamed bread.  The steamed buns, or salapoa are filled with red beans, minced meat (pork, chicken, fish), or custard.  These items described range from 10-12 baht per package.

Cow's milk: whole, 2%, 0% fat

Soy milk: white, chocolate, strawberry, coffee.

Yogurt: fat free or regular.  Pro-biotic yogurts are also available. Yogurt flavors include: strawberry, plain (sweetened with vanilla flavor), winter melon, mixed fruit, mixed berries, cherry yogurt, black current and mulberry (European).  All of the fruited yogurts have fruit chucks in them.  The cost ranges from 13-15 baht per container.
