 Tom Yam Gai - Spicy, sour Thai soup with chicken
Spicy, tangy soup. This is a traditional soup of Thailand, one of the most popular. It is typically made with shrimp. The flavor is everything a soups should be.
Chicken (or shrimp), garlic, galangal, tomatoes, onions, shallots, birds eye chilies, kaffir lime leaf, pakchee Thai, lime juice, fish sauce, sugar, salt/stock.

Thai noodle soup(s) - Typically found on vending carts in most Thai cities/villages.  Consists of a choice of noodle (egg, rice,or big noodle), choice of protein (pork, chicken, fish balls, pork dumplings, tofu), leafy vegetables, cucumber, and bean sprouts.  A broth is used to hydrate the noodles and greens, as it is lowered into the hot liquid.  The broth contains slices of wax gourd,  as seen in the picture to the right.  The  completed dish is topped with crushed peanuts, red pepper flakes, and some sugar.  The combination is tasty.  Most people choose to get the meals, "take-away," meaning it's bagged up, as seen in the left picture.  You may then add the amount of broth you desire, in addition to a chilli sauce. The cost is typically around 25-40 baht depending on you protein choices.  Little waiting time is expected. Venders may very some what from cart to cart.










Jungle soup - Consists of water, dry-fried seafood, rice noodles, ramen noodle, leafy greens, spices all cooked in a banana leaf. Eaten with bamboo chopsticks with a bamboo cup.
