Street Food


 Fresh pineapple is served in a bag with a wooden stick (utensil).  Small bags around 10 baht, large bags 20-35 baht.
Dried squid. Found on vending carts, hanging in the open air.  If one chooses to order, the vendor then heats the squid on a mini gas grill and then placed it in a paper bag. The snack is offered in strips or in whole form, served with a chili-peanut sauce.  The flavor is somewhat crisp with a light seafood smell.

 Sticky rice with banana
Sticky rice, banana, banana leaf. Rice and the banana are wrapped with banana leaf, then steamed.
 Fried taro (matchsticks) and fried bananas
"Take away" entrees and steamed rice.

 Monkey Beans
A Thai peanut. Smaller in size than the similar legume in the US. These legumes are cooked over coals and found in the streets or local markets.
Cost, approximately 20 baht for a cup.
 Some sort of seafood.
the texture is chewy and rubber-like. This dish is cooked with lemon grass and served with a spicy sauce.

 Fried Salapao - pronounced salapao tawd in Thai
Salapao is a steamed rice bread, origin of China, that is filled with a variety of fillings. Fillings may include pork, fish, chicken, custard, taro, etc.
The flavor is great, not sweet, not salty.  The side has a crispy exterior and a soft donut-like texture on the inside. The dish is served with a spicy Thai sauce.
Cost, 20 baht per plate.
